England and India will play five T20Is starting July 1.
Ahead of the first T20I between England and India at Chester-Le-Street on July 1, England white-ball captain Harry Brook has stated that England is not worried about the threat of 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
Sooryavanshi is yet to make his much-anticipated India debut in the recent Ireland T20Is, but Sooryavanshi's potential to surpass Sachin Tendulkar's record and become India's youngest-ever men's cricket debutant has dominated the build-up to the match between India and England.
Sooryavanshi received his maiden India T20I call-up after a massive 776 runs at a strike rate of 237.31 in IPL 2026 with one century and five fifties, including three scores of 90-plus. He won the Orange Cap for most runs, the Most Valuable Player, and the Emerging Player of the IPL, amongst other accolades.
While praising Sooryavanshi, England captain Brook stated that he still has faith in his bowlers' ability to carry out their strategies.
“He looks like a very, very talented player, obviously done extremely well in the last year, year and a half and we've got our tactics and hopefully they work and there's been a lot of digging behind the scenes to see what we can do to try and stop them from playing their best cricket,” Brook told reporters in the pre-match press conference ahead of the first T20I.
When asked what he was doing when he was 15, Brook let out a chuckle and said, “I was playing academy cricket for Yorkshire in the league.”
