Legendary India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was full of praises for all-rounder Hardik Pandya for his performance in the recent tour of the UK. Hardik Pandya first captained India to a 2-0 T20I series win over Ireland and then helped India win the ODI and T20I series against England.

In the three T20Is he played, Hardik Pandya made 63 runs and picked five wickets. This included his haul of 51 and 4/33 in the first T20I against England. Meanwhile, in the ODI series, Pandya scored 100 runs in 2 matches and picked 6 wickets as well.

This included his 71 and 4/24 in the third ODI win and for which he was named the Player of the Series as well.

Sunil Gavaskar was pleased with the maturity Hardik Pandya has showcased in the last few series for the Indian cricket team.

ENG v IND 2022: 'Something they need to look at' - Wasim Jaffer remarks on Team India's top 3 batters' performance

The maturity that has come into his cricket is incredible. If you have an all-rounder coming in to bat at No.5 or 6, who can pace the innings, accelerate at any given time, and hit the sixes, it’s fantastic. Also, coming in the middle overs when batters are looking to score the runs, bowling those overs, and getting wickets, he is doing it brilliantly. It’s really good to see Hardik Pandya coming good,” Gavaskar was quoted as saying to India Today.

The legendary opener also gave his opinion about the Indian top order’s performance in the recent white-ball games and said that he feels there is no need to rush as the Indian top order still has a "lot left in the tank".

I don’t think it’s a point of concern. All these players have had magnificent careers. Let’s not be in a rush as they have plenty of time to contribute to Indian cricket. They still have a lot left in the tank. If the lower order and middle-order are also failing like the top-order, then you, maybe, need to look at other options,” Gavaskar added.

Hardik will now be seen in action in the five-match T20I series against West Indies in the Caribbean.
