There was a time when Virat Kohli used to hog headlines every other day for his record-breaking exploits with the bat. However, the veteran batter has lately become the talk of the town for his extended lean patch.

The owner of 70 international centuries, Kohli’s hasn’t hit a ton since November 2019 and he is enduring a torrid time in the ongoing England tour.

Virat could manage only 11 and 20 in Edgbaston Test and could score only 12 runs in his two innings in T20Is. While the right-hander didn’t feature in the first ODI due to a groin injury, he made only 16 runs on his return in the second ODI at Lord’s on Thursday (July 14).

Kohli’s recent failures saw him facing flak from the fans and former cricketers. In fact, Indian cricket legends Kapil Dev and Virender Sehwag have raised questions over his place in the national side.

Amid the scrutiny, Virat Kohli on Saturday (July 16) posted a cryptic tweet, featuring his picture beside a wall which has a message: “What if I fall. Oh but my darling, what if you fly.”

“Perspective,” Kohli wrote in the caption.

Virat Kohli will be next seen in action during the third ODI against England on July 17 and would be hoping to return to form. The 33-year-old has been rested from the upcoming ODI and T20I series against West Indies, beginning July 22.
