Jaffer also said that India should continue their attacking approach in T20Is.
Deepak Hooda has been continuously delivering with the bat since the IPL 2022, and former Indian batter Wasim Jaffer believes that it could prove costly for the struggling Virat Kohli.
Hood has been in brilliant form with the bat, scoring three 30-plus scores and a century in his last four outings in T20I cricket. On July 7, Hooda played another brilliant knock of 33 runs in 17 balls to help Team India post 198/8 on the board against England in the first T20I in Southampton.
After India won the match by 50 runs, Jaffer said that Hood’s consistent performance could put pressure on Kohli and hoped that it might bring out the best of the dashing right-hander.

Wasim Jaffer said on ESPNCricinfo: “Hooda’s performance will put pressure on Virat Kohli when he comes back. You’ve got a guy who has done so well and performed consistently in the IPL and the T20Is as well. The pressure might bring out the best of Virat Kohli.”
He further added, “You’ve got to like the way they accelerated and the momentum they batted with. This was missing in the last T20 World Cup, all the time. They are going with that aggressive approach, which is very refreshing to see.”
Jaffer also said that India should continue their attacking approach to dominate the shorter format of the game and wants to see Kohli and KL Rahul play in an attacking fashion.
He signed off by saying, “This is the brand of cricket they need to play if they want to dominate this format. This is something we would like to see from the main guys as well.”
