India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja completed his century on Day 2 of the ongoing rescheduled Test against England at Edgbaston.

Jadeja was unbeaten on 83 at the close of play on Day 1 and he hardly took any time to notch up his ton on the second day. It was his third hundred in the longest format of the game.

The southpaw arrived in the middle when the visitors were reeling at 98/5. He played the role of a second fiddle as wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant tore apart the England bowling attack with his dazzling 146 off 111 balls.

Jadeja was involved in a 222-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Pant as India finished the opening day on 338/7.

On Day 2, Jadeja smashed Matty Potts for a boundary in the 79th over to bring up his century. He was eventually dismissed by James Anderson on 104 and his knock included 13 fours.

After Jadeja’s dismissal, stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah took on the England bowlers and produced a stunning cameo of 16-ball 31*, which included a total of 35 runs in an over of Stuart Broad. Mohammed Siraj was the last batter to be dismissed as India’s first innings folded for 416 in 84.5 overs.

For his brilliance with the bat, Ravindra Jadeja received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
