Shami picked the two wickets to fall after India declared their innings at 246/8.
The four-day match which began on June 23 saw Cheteshwar Pujara, Rishabh Pant, Prasidh Krishna, and Jasprit Bumrah playing for Leicestershire instead of India to give everyone match practice. This gave the fans moments like Bumrah bowling to Rohit Sharma, and Krishna dismissing Shreyas Iyer after getting tips from Virat Kohli amongst others.
India declared their first innings overnight at 246/8 with Ks Bharat unbeaten on 70.
The Leicestershire innings saw Mohammad Shami giving India two early wickets. First, he dismissed the opposition captain Sam Evan for one run, having him caught by Virat Kohli in slips, and then he accounted for Cheteshwar Pujara, who was bowled by Shami for a 10-ball duck.
Shami bowled a ball on the off-stump, which bounced a bit and while Pujara tried to play it square on the off side, it took the inside edge and rattled his stumps. Shami celebrated joyously and even jumped on Pujara hilariously as he was walking back to the pavilion.
