Team India head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar tested positive for Coronavirus and will be in a 10-day quarantine until they return two negative tests.

However, BCCI has said that the head coach and captain Virat Kohli will not be questioned regarding them leaving the team and attending functions without permission.

"Covid-19 is something that can happen to anyone. Besides, the United Kingdom government has removed restrictions and opened movement. So, people are allowed to move freely," said a top Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official to IANS.

The affected trio will not travel with the team to Manchester where the fifth and the final Test of the series will be played starting from 10 September.

Lockdown in England ended in July and Team India players were allowed to get out of the bubbles after the World Test Championship final that was played at Southampton from June 18-22. Several players watched the Euro 2020 and Wimbledon. Rishabh Pant tested positive for the Coronavirus soon after he returned from a Euro 2020 match.

Ravi Shastri had attended functions over the past few days in the build up to the fourth Test, including his book launch. Virat Kohli was also present at the book launch.

The teams are not in a bubble but in a ‘restricted environment' and are following England’s COVID-19 protocols.
