Rishabh Pant has struggled in England as he has just 96 runs under his belt in 6 innings.
Team India wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has grabbed the spotlight since his debut in international cricket. While the southpaw has had some great outings where he has won matches for India like the final Test match of the series against Australia at The Gabba in Brisbane earlier this year.
But Pant has not been able to score big runs or make an impact in his recent outings. Thus, the former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt in his latest YouTube video talked about Pant’s comparison with legendary wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist.
“Please don’t compare a player (Rishabh Pant) with 2-3 years experience with a world-class player like Adam Gilchrist. Gilchrist was outright match-winner. He used to dominate world-class bowlers during his time. Now, only a few top-class pacers are there and Pant has played only a few good knocks so far,” Butt said in his latest YouTube video.

The 36-year-old who never represented Pakistan after his involvement in match-fixing allegations, then slammed the 23-year-old India keeper-batsman for his poor performances in England as he just scored 96 runs in six innings.
“Gilchrist was a big imposing figure and Pant is not even half of Gilchrist. Gilly was a different kind of batsman altogether. Pant has to make some changes to his current technique and make some mental adjustments in Test cricket. He has to set in the crease before going for shots. He doesn’t have plan B which is very necessary on pitches like England,” the Lahore-based cricketer concluded.
As far as the ongoing Test series against England is concerned, India after being bowled out for 191 runs in the first innings, came back strongly with Indian bowlers picking up 3 wickets which also consisted of a big wicket of England captain Joe Root to end Day 1.
