Shardul Thakur is famously called as 'Lord Shardul Thakur' on social media by Indian cricket fans.
India all-rounder Shardul Thakur played a crucial knock for his team in the ongoing fourth Test against England at The Oval. On Thursday (September 2), Shardul smashed a quickfire 57 off just 36 balls when India were struggling at 127/7 on the first day.
Team India got bowled out for a respectable total of 191 in the first innings after Shardul's half-century, which turned out to be the fastest by any batsman on English soil. He was also the top scorer for the team as only skipper Virat Kohli could get 50 runs in the first innings.

Shardul is famously called as 'Lord' on social media and he also has a couple of nicknames, 'Beefy' and 'Bull', given by his teammates. On being asked about it in a virtual press conference, he said: "Only two of those are my nicknames. Lord is just a meme, started on social media.
"But, yeah, I'm pretty happy I am getting so much love from my teammates, and everyone," he added.
The 29-year-old talked about his important knock for the team and said he tries to make an impact with his batting. "Whenever you get the opportunity you have to take the responsibility by hook or crook."
"I always see it as a challenge that whenever I get my batting I have do something to create an impact. Our batting coach and our throwdown experts kept giving me the confidence that I can score runs so on this day I had to deliver," he said.
