India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik will leave the commentary panel of the ongoing five-match Test series between England and India in the UK after the ongoing third Test at Headingley, Leeds.

Karthik has been serving his commentary stint in England since the ICC WTC 2021 Final between India and New Zealand in June 2021.

However, the veteran cricketer will leave the commentary panel of the England-India Test series after the ongoing third Test to take a flight for the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Karthik is all set to join his franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the UAE for the second half of the IPL 2021, resuming on September 19 in Dubai.

As reported by IANS, Karthik stated: “The IPL starts in two weeks’ time. I may prepare and do as well as I can. I won’t be here for the remaining two Tests. You guys have been good to me.”

Noteworthy, the 36-year-old has aggregated 123 runs in 7 matches in the first leg of the IPL 14. KKR has recently announced the signing of the New Zealand pace bowler Tim Southee as a replacement for the Australian pacer Pat Cummins, who will not be taking part in the UAE leg due to personal reasons.

With two wins from seven matches, the two-time IPL champions are placed at the seventh spot in the IPL 14 points table and will hope for a turnaround in the second half of the T20 event in the UAE.

KKR will be resuming their IPL 2021 campaign against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on September 20 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
