The Indian team was rated very highly after their epic win against hosts England in the second Test at Lord’s. But, after a poor performance on Day one of this Leeds Test, the praises were replaced by criticism.

Virat Kohli and Co. after electing to bat first were bowled out for just 78 runs and the batting disaster was also followed by sub-par bowling as no Indian bowler looked lethal and the bowling unit just failed to English openers.

As a result of not-so-great bowling, hosts managed to finish the first day with all their wickets intact and also secured a 42-run lead as the scoreboard reads 120/0 with Rory Burns (52) and Haseeb Hameed (58) at the crease.

Thus, the former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja was extremely disappointed with India’s performance on Day one of this third Test match and lashed at them in his latest YouTube video.

ENG v IND 2021: India played thinking that we don’t need this win today- Vaughan slams visitors’ batting

Who would have thought that after winning comprehensively at Lord's, India would dig a hole for themselves at Headingley? Cricket is a great leveler and you cannot take it for granted,Raja said in a YouTube video on his channel.

The 59-year-old then questioned Virat Kohli’s decision of batting first after winning the toss at Headingley as it proved to be a blessing in disguise for the hosts as English pacers ran through this Indian batting unit.

The role of the think tank is to read the pitch well and pass on the right information to the captain to make his job easier. Their job is also to tell the captain what to do after winning the toss,” the cricketer-turned-commentator concluded.

Thus, with England being 42 runs ahead already, it will be interesting to see how the visitors handle the pressure on Day two.
