Ishant Sharma bowled a 9-ball over in the third Test at Headingley in Leeds.
Rohit Sharma showed great patience as he top-scored amongst Indian batters with 19(105) to his name and along with Ajinkya Rahane who scored 18(54) tried to get back into the game, but the English pacers proved to be too good. wrapping Indian innings quickly.
As far as Indian batting is concerned, Kohli opened the innings with experienced Ishant Sharma which in turn proved to be a wrong move as the right-arm quick was not at this best at Headingley as he bowled a lot of freebies and also delivered a 9-ball over owing to a lot of extras.
The Delhi-based pacer failed to challenge English batters and ended up easing their stay at the crease with a lot of bad deliveries and hence was the only bowler to end the day without any maiden over to his name.
New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham who is known for his funny and sarcastic jibes on social media addressed Ishant’s 9-ball over and linked it with a new rule from the inaugural edition of ‘The Hundred’.
In The Hundred, a bowler one over featured a spell of 10 balls. Thus, after the 32-year-old’s nearly 10-ball over, Neesham compared the situation with the rule from ECB’s tournament.
Neesham who represented Welsh Fire in the 100-ball tournament took a jibe at the Indian pacer by writing, “Ishant obviously a big fan of @thehundred, keen to bowl 10 first up #IndvsEng,” on Twitter.
