England’s ace fast bowler James Anderson was the subject of quite a turmoil during the second Test match against India at Lord’s, which the hosts lost by 151 runs. But he redeemed himself in grand style in the third Test, on day one as he ran through India’s top order.

Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bat first, a decision that came back to haunt him. James Anderson swung the ball both ways in the first over itself and got the wicket of KL Rahul for a duck, having him caught behind with a perfect outswinger.

He then accounted for out-of-form Cheteshwar Pujara by setting him up beautifully for an outgoing delivery and getting him caught by Buttler for 1 run in 9 balls. Then in walked Virat Kohli for a contest that has been mouth-watering since the first Test match.

Anderson enticed Kohli with balls barely outside the off-stump and the India captain obliged by letting them go to the keeper. He even hit a brilliant four, but then couldn’t keep himself from playing at a delivery just outside off stump, as Anderson got the ball to move out just a bit and Kohli fell for 7 runs.

The veteran England pacer was over the moon with the wicket of the Indian captain and his over-the-top celebration showed how much emotion poured out after what had happened at Lord’s.

Not only this, but the cricket fraternity was in awe of James Anderson’s amazing bowling performance in the first session on day one of the third Test match at Headingley, and the likes of Wasim Akram, Damien Fleming, and others lauded him on Twitter.
