Wood hurt his right shoulder during 4th day of second Test at Lord's.
Wood, who picked five wickets in the Lord’s Test against India, had suffered a shoulder injury on day four while fielding. He dived to make a stop on the boundary and landed hard on his shoulder, needing urgent medical attention. Though he returned to bowl on day five, he was heavily bandaged and looking uncomfortable.

In an official statement on their website, ECB wrote, “England seamer Mark Wood has been ruled out of the LV= Insurance third Test against India with a jarred right shoulder. Wood sustained the injury on the fourth day of the second Test at Lord’s and will not be fit to play at Emerald Headingley starting on Wednesday.
He will remain with the squad in Leeds and will continue his rehab with the England medical team. The 31-year-old will be assessed at the end of this Test match.”
England is already hurting with their pace bowling options dwindling quickly. Jofra Archer, Olly Stone, Stuart Broad, and Chris Woakes are already out of contention due to injury.
England made three changes to their squad for the third Test with Dawid Malan getting a recall to the Test side, while Dom Sibley and Zak Crawley were dropped after a string of poor performances.
One of either Craig Overton or Saqib Mahmood might find themselves playing the third Test with Wood being ruled out.
