Root has already scored 386 runs in two Tests with two centuries to his name.
Even though the right-handed batsman is at his best, Indian quick Jasprit Bumrah has dismissed him twice in four innings. Thus, the former England spinner Monty Panesar in his recent interaction talked about Bumrah being India’s best bet against Root.
“The way to get him out is to bowl at the fifth stump line and outside the off stump. His wicket was planned by Virat in the second innings and Bumrah executed it well. Virat should again make a plan against Root. Root plays the pull shot really well, so don't bowl short pitch balls to him,” Panesar told the Times of India.

“Virat should bring in Bumrah straightway whenever Root comes to the crease. Both Bumrah and Siraj have the ability to put pressure on a batman from the word go. That's what they did with Root in the second innings and the captain lost his wicket,” he added.
The 39-year-old then explained his point by revealing how the England captain likes to bat with a flow and tends to change his position and game plan if the flow is not happening.
“You need to frustrate Root and force him to change his position. He likes to bat with a flow. If the flow is not happening, he will change his position and game plan. That's what India would want. That's the way India can get Root out early,” the left-arm spinner concluded.
Bumrah dismissed the 30-year-old on Day 5 of the Lord’s Test match where Indian went on to register a historic win by 151 runs to go 1-0 up in the five-match Test series with the next match scheduled to be played at Headingley in Leeds from 25 August.
