There were a lot of interesting things going on in the field even as the first Test between India and England at Nottingham even as the match ended in a draw because of rain.

Ollie Robinson had a few words with the Indian batsmen, Mohammed Siraj was engaged in a verbal battle with Sam Curran and the pacer gave a questionable send-off to Johnny Bairstow.

Many thought the 'silent' send-off was due to a war of words between the two, Bairstow said that he had not exchanged any words with Siraj during his innings.

"There was absolutely nothing in that. He (Mohammed Siraj) didn't say anything to me and I didn't say anything to him. I didn't know where that really came from. I wasn't actually sure that there were too many verbals [spat] flying around if am honest. There wasn't anything Siraj said to me out in the middle and vice-versa,"  Bairstow said in a virtual press conference on Wednesday ahead of the second Test at Lord's.

Stuart Broad has been ruled out of the India Test series due to a calf muscle injury and James Anderson might also miss the Lord's Test because of a thigh issue.

When asked about the two senior pacers, Bairstow said: "I don't have really much information. Yeah, it would [be a big loss] for the team. They have got 1000 Test wickets between them. So yeah it's gonna be a loss, but with it comes the opportunity for other people,” said the top-order batsman.

Young fast-bowler Saqib Mahmood has been added to the England side as a cover ahead of the second Test that is starting on 12 August.
