Ashwin might replace injured Shardul Thakur in India XI for Lord's Test.
The tourists had registered a historic win at the Home of Cricket back in 2014 when Ishant Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane had played a vital role. Ashwin who might get to play in the Lord's Test match owing to injured Shardul Thakur is really excited to play at this historic stadium in London.
“Whenever you come to Lord's it's more of a picturesque occasion. This is very special for me to have come. We had a very memorable Test match here in 2014, England was cock-a-hoop and we drew the first Test, came here to a wonderful hundred by Ajinkya Rahane and that's a memory were we bowled short at them and got the victory,” Ashwin told bcci.tv.
“Hopefully, this time we have got the side and we have a really upbeat mood inside the dressing room so I think this will be a very good Test match. The practice pitches were quite damp and there were dents on it. We've had good preparation in case the wickets are damp,” he added.
The Chennai-based cricketer then talked about how he personally is looking forward to this exciting Test match considering a chance to win a Test series in England on the back of an epic win against Australia.
“I am personally looking forward to a wonderful Test series where this Indian team could achieve something great in terms of having won in Australia and also having a chance of winning here in England,” the 34-year-old signed off.
