Mohammed Siraj picked 1-48 and 2-84 in the first Test against England in Nottingham.
The former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt who was one of them, praised the right-arm quick in his latest YouTube video by calling him a brilliant future prospect and someone who fits into the team really well.
“Mohammed Siraj may be relatively inexperienced at the Test level but he has played a lot of first-class cricket and has been on A tours as well. The way he bowls, it doesn’t seem like he is a newcomer in Test cricket. He knows what lines to bowl. He is young and has pace as well.” Butt said in his YouTube video.
“The exuberance of youth can be seen when he runs into bowl. Siraj has challenged the batsmen, bent his back and bowled bouncers. He is tall and strong. Siraj is definitely a brilliant future prospect. He is providing the team with wickets and not giving away too much,” the southpaw added.
The 36-year-old then talked about how Siraj who was in India’s XI due to an injury to Ishant Sharma, bowled the wicket-to-wicket and asked the difficult questions to English batsmen.
“He fits into this team really well. I don’t know whether Ishant Sharma was fit or not for the first Test but Siraj was really impressive as was Shardul Thakur. They backed Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami really well,” the Lahore-based batsman concluded.
After the first Test match ended in a draw due to incessant rain on Day 5 at Trent Bridge, the second Test between India and England will be played at the iconic Lord’s in London from August 12.
