India made 278 in reply to England's 183 in first innings.
In the ongoing first Test match between England and India, the tourists’ tail wagged mightily as they achieved a lead of 95 runs as their first innings ended on 278 in reply to England’s 183.
While KL Rahul top-scored with 84 and Ravindra Jadeja contributed a handsome 56, when he got out, India was 232/8. Not many had envisioned the Indian fast bowlers to stick around and contribute to the total, but Jasprit Bumrah had other ideas.
He threw caution to the wind and scored an entertaining 28 in 34 balls with one six and 3 fours. Three of those boundaries came off three balls against Sam Curran, including a brilliant six towards midwicket boundary.

Bumrah’s entertaining knock also caught the attention of batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, who took to Twitter and posted, “Formidable lead for #TeamIndia after some important runs added by the tail. It’ll be interesting to see how England respond after being behind. By the way, @Jaspritbumrah93 just played the shot of his life today.”
Ollie Robinson picked 5/85 and James Anderson took 4/54. Anderson with his four wickets, went past India’s Anil Kumble’s (619 Test wickets) tally to become the third-highest wicket-taker in the five-day format.
