It was a wonderful opening day of the first Test at Trent Bridge for the Indian team as the visitors bowled England out for 183 in their first innings after losing the toss. In reply, the openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul safely negotiated the 13 overs before stumps to be 21/0.

Indian fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah (4/46), Mohammad Shami (3/28), Shardul Thakur (2/41) and Mohammed Siraj (1/48) all bowled excellently as except England captain Joe Root (64) none of the home team's batsmen could tackle the relentless bowling on show. Four England batters failed to get off the mark.

India also had a good day with the DRS as two of their reviews were successful against Zak Crawley and Jonny Bairstow. On the last ball of the 21st over, Siraj managed to induce an inside edge from Crawley and the catch was completed  by wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant but umpire Richard Kettleborough gave the batsman not out.

WATCH- Manjrekar’s opposite reactions to Virat Kohli’s expressions to two reviews

Indian captain Virat Kohli was unsure whether there was an edge as just couple of balls earlier he had taken a similar review of Crawley after consulting his wicket-keeper only to see it get wasted with there being no bat to ball. However, Pant was adamant this time and forced Kohli to opt for a second review in the same over and this time he was proven right.

Kohli was a much relieved man after the review confirmed an edge and Crawley had to walk back to the pavilion. He was seen shaking hands and bowing down to Pant to thank him for forcing the review which was ultimately successful.
