India head coach Ravi Shastri was seen approving commentator Dinesh Karthik’s work on the mic during the first Test of the five-match series between England and India being played at the Trent Bridge ground in Nottingham from August 4.

Dinesh Karthik debuted as a guest expert for Sky Sports during England’s tour of India earlier this year and then moved to on-field commentary during the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand.

Since then, he has been getting rave reviews for his commentary style and his colorful shirts which change with every appearance. He is currently on duty as a commentator during the five-Test England-India series and was being praised by England’s David Lloyd for his work on air.

India coach Ravi Shastri was hearing the commentary on the radio while sitting in the dressing room balcony and gave a thumbs up to Lloyd praising Karthik’s mic work. This was a big appreciation coming from Shastri, who himself made quite a name for himself on the mic after retiring from cricket in 1994.
