After an outstanding Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign in India, the champion Australian cricket team returned home. Pat Cummins' men easily overcame hosts India in the final to win the ODI World Cup for the sixth time in their history.

India was unbeaten throughout the tournament till the final and favorites to lift the World Cup trophy. However, on the day of the summit clash, Cummins and his team executed their strategy flawlessly, outplaying Rohit Sharma's team in all three departments.

Cummins and many members of the winning squad arrived home on Wednesday morning, but the lack of fanfare for the ODI world champions perplexed social media.

Video clips of World Cup winning Australian players arriving at airport amidst little to no fanfare went viral on social media. This made fans wonder why Australian cricketers didn't receive the heroes' welcome they deserved.

Cummins, upon his arrival, reflected on the spectacular achievement and said that the excitement of becoming ODI world champions hasn't yet fully sunk in.

"I think we'll be smiling for a fair while. We are still buzzing. Every half an hour or so, you kind of remember that you just won a World Cup and get excited all over again. You only get one chance every four years and especially playing somewhere like India, it's hard.

To be pitted against the rest of the world and come away with a medal, it doesn't get any better than that. Adding to that an away Ashes series, a World Test Championship, we couldn't have planned for much better," Cummins said to the press reporters .
