2011 World Cup winner Sachin Tendulkar was present in Ahmedabad, but the absence of 1983 World Cup winning skipper Kapil Dev made fans realize something was amiss. It has emerged that he had not received an invitation for the final in the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

The former captain was visibly sad and expressed his desire for the complete 1983 team to be present with him. He did, however, accept the importance of the incident and that the busy schedules of those involved may have contributed to the error.
“I wasn’t invited there. They didn’t call me so I did not go. As simple as that. I wanted the whole ’83 team to be there with me but I guess due to the fact that it’s such a big event and people are so busy handling responsibilities, sometimes they forget,” Kapil Dev told ABP News.
