The Indian cricket team fell at the final hurdle in the Cricket World Cup 2023, losing the final to Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. It was a heartbreaking 6-wicket defeat for the hosts as Australia became 6-time World Champions on November 19.

After going undefeated throughout the competition until the final, Rohit Sharma's players were unable to pass the final test, and their ambition of capturing the trophy was dashed.

The Indian players were understandably dejected after losing the final. But, on the occasion, PM Narendra Modi paid them a visit in the dressing room and tried to motivate the players.

PM Modi was present at the venue to watch the two cricketing giants square off. He even handed over the World Cup trophy to Australia skipper Pat Cummins after the team's triumph.

India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took to X and shared a special message, while revealing PM Modi's special post-match gesture for the players.

"We had a great tournament but we ended up short yesterday. We are all heartbroken but the support of our people is keeping us going. PM @narendramodi's visit to the dressing room yesterday was special and very motivating," Jadeja posted.

Apart from Jadeja, India pacer Mohammad Shami also shared an image of Narendra Modi giving him a hug and a pat on the back. Shami ended the World Cup 2023 as the highest wicket-taker with 24 scalps and the best bowling figures as well of 7/57.

Shami posted: “Unfortunately yesterday was not our day. I would like to thank all Indians for supporting our team and me throughout the tournament. Thankful to PM @narendramodi  for specially coming to the dressing room and raising our spirits. We will bounce back!
