Virat Kohli is the leading run-getter in CWC 2023.
Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bowl first despite experts saying that the pitch was a dry one and it might spin in the second half. Both India and Australia came into this encounter with the same XIs as the semi-finals.
Before the match commenced, the occasion was made more memorable for Virat Kohli as he received a signed jersey from Sachin Tendulkar, which he had worn in his final ODI in 2012.
Tendulkar not only gifted Kohli a jersey, but also presented him with a heartfelt message as well.
“Virat, you make us proud,” read the message.
Recently, Kohli had gone past two of Sachin Tendulkar’s big records. During the semi-final of the CWC 2023 between India and New Zealand, Kohli scored 117 runs, which was his 50th ODI ton and he broke Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time record. Secondly, with this ton, he also went past Tendulkar’s record of most runs in one World Cup editions-673.
Kohli came into the CWC final with 711 runs in 10 matches, becoming the first batter to go past 700 runs in a single edition of Wthe orld Cup.
