India posted the highest-ever score in a World Cup knockout game.
Rohit Sharma gave the perfect start with 47 from 29 balls with 4 sixes and 4 fours, adding 81 runs with Shubman Gill. Gill continued to make 80* before he had to retire hurt at 79 due to severe cramps.
Virat Kohli took over the scoring and hammered his 50th ODI ton, going past Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 centuries in the format. In due course, he also became the first batter to make 700-plus runs in a single edition of the World Cup.

Kohli made 117 runs with 9 fours and 2 sixes and added 163 runs with Shreyas Iyer. Iyer, on the other hand, smacked the New Zealand bowlers all over Wankhede stadium. He made 105 in just 70 balls with 4 fours and 8 massive sixes. This was his second century in the tournament.
KL Rahul gave the innings finishing touches with 39* from 20 balls with 2 sixes and 5 fours as India posted 397/4 in 50 overs.
Tim Southee picked 3/100, his second time in ODIs, giving away 100 or more runs in 10 overs. Both instances came against India.
Meanwhile, the cricket fraternity was all praises for Indian batters and lauded them on X.
