India defeated Sri Lanka by 302 runs in CWC 2023 match in Mumbai on November 2nd.
India was asked to bat first and thanks to some sublime knocks from Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer, the Men in Blue posted 357/8 in 50 overs. In response, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammad Shami shared 8 wickets between themselves and routed Sri Lanka to 55 all out. This gave India a win by 302 runs, their biggest in World Cup history by margin of runs.
Sri Lanka batters had no idea where the ball was moving, in the air or off the pitch. In between the fall of wickets, Charith Asalanka and Angelo Matthews provided some resistance, in which Asalanka made 1 run in 24 balls.
During this period, the Wankhede Stadium crowd began chanting that Virat Kohli should be given the ball as well. Reacting to the chants of “Kohli ko bowling do (give the ball to Kohli)", Virat even warmed up a little and did shadow bowling.

While standing in the slip cordon, Kohli, at first slip and Gill, at second, were probably expecting a catch every ball. Seeing them together, the crowd at Wankhede came up with all sorts of slogans and chants.
But when the crowd started to tease Gill with 'Sara Sara' chants, Kohli requested them to stop. He then pointed towards Gill’s name on the back of his jersey and asked the crowd to chant his name.
