Shubman Gill is currently playing in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Young Indian opener Shubman Gill opened up about his current favorite cricketer, his idol, nickname, and the secret behind picking 77 as his jersey number. The right-handed batter is currently playing in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
In a rapid-fire Q&A video posted by Star Sports India on Instagram, Gill revealed that batting superstar Virat Kohli is his current favorite cricketer, and Sachin Tendulkar is his idol as he grew up watching him bat.
Gill revealed that his nickname is ‘Kaka’ which means baby in Punjabi. The Indian opener further said that wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan is his best friend in the Indian team, and his dad is the first person whom he calls whenever the team wins the matches.
On being asked about his jersey number, Gill said: “The reason behind getting number 77 was that when I played the under-19 World Cup, I wanted number seven but it was not available, so I took two sevens.”
Notably, Team Inhashave won all six matches at the World Cup 2023 they played so far in the tournament.
