Australia have suffered a huge blow ahead of the marquee clash in Ahmedabad.
The marquee clash is due to take place in Ahmedabad on November 4. While there are still three days left for the game, Maxwell will be under concussion protocols for six to eight days.
“Maxwell was holding onto a golf cart on the way back from the club house to the team bus when he lost his grip. He is expected to be under concussion protocols for six to eight days,” ESPNCricinfo reported.
In Maxwell’s absence, there are chances that either Marcus Stoinis or Cameron Green will feature in the playing XI with Marnus Labuschagne retaining his place in the line-up.
Australia will baldy miss the services of Maxwell, who seems to be in great touch with the bat in this World Cup. Last week, the dashing right-hander slammed the fastest World Cup century in 40 balls against the Netherlands in Delhi. He is also a handy off-spinner and has picked up four wickets in this World Cup so far.
With eight points from 6 games, Australia are currently placed in the fourth position on the points table, featuring 10 teams. They need to win at least two out of their remaining three games to secure a spot in the semi-final.
