David Warner didn't mince his words while sharing his perspective on Australia’s next match in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 with their Ashes rival England on November 4.
Warner said that while it would be satisfying to pile on England's misery, he reckoned that they're the most dangerous team right now, as there's nothing to lose for them. England has lost five of their six games in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023.
David Warner was quoted as saying by Cricket.com.au: “It’d be nice to pile on England’s misery. But they’re the teams that are the most dangerous when there’s nothing to lose. They’ve got some very, very high-quality players, and we have to respect them. They bat to 11, and their bowling unit is very good.”
37-year-old Warner is in red-hot form with the bat, amassing 413 runs, including two centuries. And Warner was happy to prove his critics wrong with his stunning performances in the tournament.
He added, “Everyone keeps writing me off. I’m doing as well as I can, I’m just trying to go out there and start as well as I can up front in the first 10 (overs). If I get in, I try and make the most of it.”
Warner also lauded Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh for putting pressure on the opposition teams in the CWC 2023.
He signed off by saying, “It’s also awesome to have Heady and Mitch there as well, because it allows that pressure to keep being put back onto the opposition.”
Notably, Australia have won four games on a trot after losing first two matches and are looking as one of the favourites to make it to the semifinals of the ongoing ODI Cricket World Cup 2023.
