The ongoing Pakistan vs. South Africa ICC World Cup 2023 match in Chennai on October 27 saw netizens slamming the ICC after a technical glitch in DRS cost Rassie van der Dussen his wicket as Proteas chases 271-run target.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and chose to bat first. He and Saud Shakeel scored half-centuries as Pakistan scored 270 runs. For South Africa, Tabraiz Shamsi took 4/60 and Marco Jansen took three wickets.

In response, South Africa lost Quinton de Kock for 24 and Temba Bavuma got out for 28 runs. Rassie van der Dussen anchored one end and played cautiously. However, controversy happened in the mode of his dismissal.

On the 5th ball of the 19th over, Van der Dussen played across the line to a Usama Mir delivery on the leg stump. The on-field umpire gave him out and Rassie immediately asked for DRS.

The South African reviewed the call and the third umpire's check started with ultra-edge. When that showed a flat line, a ball tracking window came up for a split second which showed impact to be 'umpire's call' but wickets to be 'missing'.

Suddenly, that window was taken down and the cameras showed Pakistani players on the field. Then, ball tracking was shown again from the start, and this time, it showed the 'umpire's call' on both impact and hitting the wickets.

As a result, Rassie van der Dussen had to walk back to the pavilion and netizens on social media were left confused. They took to X and shared their reactions on this glitch of DRS, which cost Van der Dussen his wicket.
