Virat Kohli will be seen in action in Lucknow when India will take on England on October 29.
Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has stirred the cricketing world with a bold prediction regarding Virat Kohli's nearing a world record in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
The former Indian captain, often referred to as the "Little Master," predicted the date when Virat Kohli will score his 50th ODI century. Gavaskar anticipates that Kohli will reach this historic milestone against South Africa on November 5, coincidentally the very day when the star batter celebrates his birthday.
Gavaskar firmly believes that there couldn't be a more fitting occasion for Kohli to etch his name in the record books. The iconic cricketer also added that the right-hander has two more games to score his 49th century before playing against South Africa at Eden Gardens on November 5.
Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports: “Kohli will slam his 50th ODI Century against South Africa at the Eden Gardens and what better occasion than his birthday?”
Notably, Kohli is just one ton away from equaling Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most hundreds (49) in the ODIs, and needs two more centuries to break this long-standing world record. Gavaskar feels he will do that before the semifinals of the ongoing Cricket World Cup in 2023.
Gavaskar signed off by saying, “It's a sight when you slam a ton there because the Kolkata crowd gives you a standing ovation, and cheers for you, the air is filled with whistles and claps. It is a moment to savour for every batter.”
Notably, the table-topper Team India will next take on England in their sixth game of the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023 in Lucknow on October 29.
