Ace India cricketer Virat Kohli was in action with the ball this time as India faced Bangladesh in the ongoing 17th match of the ICC World Cup 2023. This match is being played at the MCA Stadium in Pune.

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first. Shakib Al Hasan missed out due to his quad injury and Najmul Hossain Shanto captained the side in his absence. India came into this match unchanged.

Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das started cautiously while negotiating the Indian pacers. But the pitch is batting friendly and they shortly opened up and scored a few boundaries.

However, during the 9th over of the Bangladesh innings, all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who was bowling, hurt himself. Hardik, having bowled the second delivery to opening batter Litton Das, tried to stop the ball with his right leg in his follow through.

As the ball rolled down to the fence, the cameras panned to the Indian all-rounder, who was seen having some difficulty while trying to get back on his feet.

The physio treated him in the middle while taping his left ankle. Pandya tried to run after receiving the treatment, but walked off after experiencing discomfort.

Rohit Sharma then handed the ball to Virat Kohli to complete Hardik’s over and Kohli, for the first time in six years in ODIs, bowled three balls. This is the first time, Virat Kohli bowled in the World Cup since the semifinal fixture against Australia in 2015.
