CWC 2023: India’s Virat Kohli leads the way in the best fielders list in ongoing World Cup

Virat Kohli has taken three catches in three matches for India in CWC 2023.

India great Virat Kohli is not only contributing to the team with the bat but has been a dynamite in the field as well. This was confirmed by the ICC as well, who revealed that Kohli was leading the way as the player with the biggest impact on the field in the first 13 days of the ICC World Cup 2023.

India has played three matches thus far, winning against Australia in Chennai, Afghanistan in Delhi, and Pakistan in Ahmedabad. They are at the top of the ICC World Cup 2023 points table.

Virat Kohli has also done well with the bat, scoring 85 against Australia and 55* against Afghanistan. But in the field, he has a total of three catches in three matches. He is just two catches behind tournament leaders for non-wicket-keepers Matt Henry of New Zealand and Australia veteran David Warner.

But apart from catches, the runs Kohli has saved have had a much bigger impact on India. He is high on the list of runs saved and pressure ratings through three matches for all teams at the event and his total of 22.30 points sees him sit on top overall for fielding impact at the World Cup.

Kohli's closest challengers are a pair of fellow veterans- England’s Joe Root (four catches) and Warner (five catches).

Joe Root (ENG)- 21.73 rating points

David Warner (AUS)- 21.32 rating points

Devon Conway (NZ)- 15.54 rating points

Shadab Khan (PAK)- 15.13 rating points

Glenn Maxwell (AUS)- 15 rating points

Rahmat Shah (AFG)- 13.77 rating points

Mitchell Santner (NZ)- 13.28 rating points

Fakhar Zaman (PAK)- 13.01 rating points

Ishan Kishan (IND)- 13 rating points

Pakistan, New Zealand, Australia, and India each have two players sitting inside a star-studded top 10, while the tournament hosts have another just outside with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in 11th.

India is also leading the team ratings with 14 catches for the tournament thus far assisted by a total of 10 runs saved, 16 pressure acts, and a quartet of good throws. India has only dropped two catches in three matches played.
