PCB has officially lodged a complaint with ICC over Pakistan team's reception in Ahmedabad.
The Pakistan Cricket Board lodged an official complaint with the ICC expressing significant apprehension about the reception the Pakistan team encountered from the spectators in Ahmedabad during their ICC World Cup 2023 match against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium last week.
Babar Azam was booed during the toss and Mohammad Rizwan was heckled by a faction of the crowd with ‘Jai Shri Raam’ chants.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged another formal protest with the ICC over delays in visas for Pakistani journalists and the absence of a visa policy for Pakistan fans for the ongoing World Cup 2023. The PCB has also filed a complaint regarding inappropriate conduct targeted at the Pakistan squad during the India vs Pakistan match held on 14 October 2023,” a PCB statement read.
Not only this, in the post-match conference, Pakistan team director Mickey Arthur highlighted the lack of Pakistan supporters on the ground saying that this didn’t feel like an ICC event and more of a BCCI event. He also said that “Dil dil Pakistan” was not played in Ahmedabad stadium.

Even before that Pakistani journalist Zainab Abbas had to leave India in controversial manner after her old anti-Hindu and anti-India posts on X went viral.
However, Kaneria pointed questions at the Pakistan team and the players itself, while slamming PCB for playing victims. He tried to make the board understand the multiple reasons behind the alleged reaction by the Ahmedabad crowd and advised the Pakistan board to not to find fault in others.
"Who asked Pakistani journalist Zainab Abbas to comment against India and Hindus? Who asked Mickey Arthur to call the ICC event a BCCI event? Who asked Rizwan to perform Namaz in the playground? Don’t find faults in others!": Kaneria posted.
Pakistan has played three matches thus far, defeating Sri Lanka and Netherlands, but lost badly to India. They will next face Australia in Bengaluru on Friday, October 20.
