Kusal Mendis captaining Sri Lanka after Dasun Shanaka was ruled out due to injury, won the toss and opted to bat first. Sri Lanka lost wickets in a heap, which reminded fans of the collapse Pakistan had against India the other day. They lost 9 wickets for 84 runs and were bowled out for 209 runs. Adam Zampa stood out with 4/47, while Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins took two wickets each.
In reply, David Warner got out for 11 and Steve Smith scored a duck. But Mitchell Marsh made 52 and Marnus Labuschagne scored 40 runs to steady the ship. The best knock came from Josh Inglis, who attacked the Sri Lankan bowlers, scoring 58 in 59 balls.
Glenn Maxwell made 31* and Marcus Stoinis (20*) finished the match in a hurry as Australia won by 5 wickets in hand and 88 balls remaining. Adam Zampa won the Player of the Match.
