Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has made a bold prediction about India’s wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav after his impressive performance against the Men in Green at the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in Ahmedabad.

Latif predicted that Kuldeep will finish as the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023 if he is not rested for a few matches during the tournament. Kuldeep has already claimed five wickets in the first three matches of the ongoing World Cup 2023, setting a promising tone for his campaign.

He is likely to play in Team India’s next game against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday, October 19.

Rashid Latif was quoted as saying by The Indian Express: “Against Kuldeep, we looked timid, we were trying to just play out his ten overs. Not a single Pakistan batsman was able to pick Kuldeep (Yadav), and I think if he is not rested in a few matches, Kuldeep will end up being the leading wicket-taker of the tournament.”

Latif also backed R Ashwin to play all the matches for India in the ongoing World Cup 2023 to control the flow of the runs on the board of the opposition teams.

He signed off by saying, “I was surprised that India didn’t pick Ashwin. I feel he should play all the matches for India. If Ashwin had played I don’t think we could have even got 190 on the board.”
