India and Pakistan are clashing in the 12th match of the ICC World Cup 2023 encounter in Ahmedabad on October 14. India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to field first, while Babar Azam also thinking of doing the same had he won the toss.

Shubman Gill made his Cricket World Cup debut as he replaced Ishan Kishan in the India XI. Pakistan came into the team with an unchanged side.

Openers Imam Ul Haq (36) and Abdullah Shafique (20) added 41 runs in the 8 overs at the start to give a good start. But after they were dismissed, Babar Azam (50) and Mohammad Rizwan (49) added 82 runs to consolidate the innings.

The two were looking very set in the middle and India desperately needed a wicket and it came courtesy Mohammed Siraj, who looked off color in this game. Babar Azam had just completed his 50. His first in this World Cup.

Now the onus to carry on and take Pakistan to a big total was on Mohammad Rizwan. This became even more important as Kuldeep Yadav dismissed both Saud Shakeel and Iftikhar Ahmed in the 33rd over.

Rohit Sharma brought back his strike bowler in Jasprit Bumrah and on the last ball of the 34th over, he hit gold. With Rizwan on the strike, Bumrah opted for a slow off-cutter. Rizwan completely missed the line of the ball and looked awkward trying to play at it. But the ball made its way between bat and pad and hit the off-stump.

Here is the wicket:
