Shoaib Akhtar was trolled massively by fans on social media after his inane statement ahead of the crucial India vs Pakistan ICC Cricket World Cup encounter in Ahmedabad on October 14, 2023.

The two sides are slated to clash for the 8th time in Cricket World Cups with India having a 7-0 lead over their rivals.

The last time these two sides faced-off was in Asia Cup 2023 and India hammered Pakistan in Colombo by 228 runs. This time, both the sides will come into the match with confidence.

India has defeated Australia and Afghanistan in their first two matches, while Pakistan defeated Netherlands and Sri Lanka in their initial encounters.

Ahead of the match in Ahmedabad, former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar decided to spice things up with a statement on social media.

Akhtar, who played against India in 1999 and 2003 World Cup tournaments, had said in a now-deleted post: “History shall repeat itself tomorrow #thandrakh

However, this statement of his proved to be fodder for trolls on social media. As history is concerned, Pakistan has never defeated India in Cricket World Cup matches right from 1992 to 2019. Fans reminded Shoaib Akhtar of this history while taking jibes at him.

Here are some of the best ones:
