Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets, chasing 345.
Pakistan have had an enjoyable stay in Hyderabad ever since their arrival in the city late last month for the World Cup 2023. The Pakistani team enjoyed the hospitality, food and the cricketing facilities at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.
The Babar Azam-led side played two warm-up games and then their first two official fixtures of the World Cup against Netherlands and Sri Lanka on the ground and will now proceed to Ahmedabad, where they will play India on Saturday.
Pakistan also created some history at the venue on Tuesday (October 10), as they achieved the highest successful chase of all-time in World Cup cricket, chasing down the 345-run target set by Sri Lanka with six wickets in hand and ten balls to spare.
Abdullah Shafique (113) and Mohammad Rizwan (131*) hit centuries, to help their team reach the steep target. Earlier, Kusal Mendis (122) and Sadeera Samarawickrama (108) also made centuries for Sri Lanka - as four centuries were scored in a World Cup match for the first time.
Pakistan signed off from Hyderabad with a special win and as a tribute to the efforts of the groundstaff to make their stay pleasant, captain Babar Azam gifted a team jersey and posed for pictures with them. Other players like Shaheen Afridi, Hassan Ali, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Rizwan also posed with the staff personnel.
