The ODI World Cup 2023 will kick start on Thursday, October 5 at Narendra Modi Stadium.
Former England captain Nasser Hussain has a crystal-clear prediction for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, as he firmly claimed that India will win the trophy after 12 years on home soil.
India enjoys the dual advantage of hosting the ODI World Cup 2023 on their home turf and also being the number-one-ranked ODI team in the world. The Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team also recently won the Asia Cup 2023 and beat Australia in an ODI series 2-1 at home.
Given Team India’s red-hot form, apart from the home advantage and the recent track record of the host country winning the ODI World Cup, Hussain believes that India is a clear winner of the coveted trophy this year. He said India will be a very tough side to beat in the tournament.
Nasser Hussain told Sky Sports: “It's hard to look beyond India. They're ranked No. 1 in the world, plus history tells you that playing at home is a huge advantage. England won it four years ago, Australia in 2015 when hosting, and India themselves back in 2011. They're also just a very good side with basically all bases covered. They'll be very hard to beat.”
Notably, the ODI World Cup 2023 will kick start on October 5 with the defending champions England taking on the runners-up in Ahmedabad. India will open its campaign against Australia on October 8.
