India and England will face each other in the World Cup warm-up game on September 30 in Guwahati.
India will host the quadrennial event solely for the very first time. Hence, many experts have tipped the Rohit Sharma-led side to lift the coveted trophy in home conditions.
Before starting their campaign against Australia on October 8, India will face defending champions England and Netherlands in the two World Cup warm-up games in Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram on September 30 and October 3, respectively.
Ahead of the India-England warm-up fixture, batting legend Kevin Pietersen subtly labelled the match as the World Cup final.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Pietersen asked his followers, “Is the World Cup Final being played in a warm up game today?”
The World Cup 2023 final is scheduled to be played on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Pieterse's post drew plenty of attention among the fans. While many agreed with him, a lot of them didn't endorse his prediction.
Coming to the warm-up fixture, India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first.
