CWC 2023: Ahmedabad likely host for World Cup opening ceremony- Report

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is just around the corner, and Ahmedabad – the venue for the CWC opener and the final, is most likely to host the opening ceremony on October 4, one day before the start of the marquee event.

The renowned Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium may hold the opening ceremony, according to the Cricbuzz report, though the precise location has not been confirmed.

The event is likely to be hosted in Ahmedabad in the presence of the International Cricket Council (ICC) members, the executive board of the world cricket governing body, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The report further stated that the inaugural ceremony will be a short yet dazzling affair, culminating in a cultural extravaganza. Top singers from Bollywood as well as renowned international stars are expected to light up the event.

The ICC Captains Day will also be celebrated and with the warmup matches completed by October 3rd, captains of all 10 teams will be present with the spotlight on a formal briefing session for the captains.

With the captains anticipated to arrive in Ahmedabad on the morning of October 4, the evening promises a picturesque photo-op that will capture the collective leadership of these cricketing titans.

The eve of the inauguration ceremony will witness a flurry of action as six out of the ten competing teams are slated to engage in warm-up matches. Among these matchups, India will take on the Netherlands, Australia will lock horns with Pakistan, and Sri Lanka will face off against Afghanistan.
