The excitement for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is increasing with every passing day. The quadrennial event will be held in India from October 5 to November 19.

With almost a month and half remaining for the World Cup, the experts have started picking their preferred squad for the participating teams.

Former BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad has also joined the bandwagon. On Friday (August 25), Prasad named his 15-member India squad for the showpiece tournament.

In a video posted by Star Sports on social media platform X, Prasad revealed his 15. The notable inclusion in his squad was that of seasoned off-spinner R Ashwin, who hasn’t played an ODI since January 2022.

The former India wicketkeeper also preferred one of the two wrist spinners between Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav in his team.

Middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav, who is yet to make a mark in the 50-over format, also featured in Prasad’s 15-member squad. He picked Ishan Kishan as the backup wicketkeeper ahead of Sanju Samson.

The rest of his squad was on the expected lines as the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul formed the batting line-up. The team has a seam-bowling all-rounder in Hardik Pandya and a couple of spinning all-rounders in Ravindra Jadeja and Akshar Patel.

In the fast bowling department, MSK Prasad included Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and Mohammed Siraj.
