South African pacer Kagiso Rabada believes that South Africa will have a competitive advantage at the ODI World Cup in 2023 because Proteas players have experience playing in the Indian Premier League.

Given his skill as one of the top pacers in international cricket, Rabada, who played for Punjab Kings in the recently finished IPL 2023 season, has been a frequent participant in the lucrative tournament.

All of the Proteas players are now taking a break from cricket in preparation for South Africa's series against Australia in August.

Rabada is optimistic about a strong performance by his countrymen considering their prior IPL experience, despite the fact that the Proteas have just one ICC event so far, the Knockout Trophy in 1998.

The 28-year-old emphasized that getting acclimated to Indian surfaces may be difficult for anyone, but that he has adapted well after playing there for some time, which would be a 'benefit' before the ODI World Cup.

“It was created to work against me,” R Ashwin opens up on him being marketed as an "overthinker"

Playing in India is really tough as a fast bowler on some of those wickets. I guess the challenge now, at the age that I am, is to know the basic information that a newbie wouldn’t know. You are always learning and always looking to be as effective as you can be on different wickets.

It is all about reading (the pitch) better and that is in combination with the goals that you set. Those two go in tandem – reading the conditions and executing your skills,” Rabada told IOL.

The South African star pacer has played 69 matches in the IPL since 2017, and he has 106 wickets under his name.

Heading into the World Cup in India, I do think that we have an advantage because we have played in the IPL for so many years. We have played at most of the grounds, if not all, so we understand those conditions," concluded Rabada.
