India women defeated South Africa in the final of the ICC Women's World Cup 2025.
This was after two previous heartbreaks that the Indian team finally managed to get their hands on the coveted ICC title, becoming the fourth team after Australia, England, and New Zealand to win the World Cup.
The celebrations amongst the fans and the Indian women’s team haven’t stopped since then, and recently, a video of India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur went viral.
She is seen taking a sip from her cup and then toasting the ICC Women’s World Cup trophy.

Many fans conjectured that the action was taken in remembrance of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who was taken prisoner by Pakistani forces after Indian and Pakistani planes engaged in an aerial duel during India's 2019 airstrikes in Balakot.
Following India's victory against Pakistan in the Men's Asia Cup—a trophy that India has yet to receive—Harmanpreet made his decision.
Mohsin Naqvi, the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), presented the trophy to India after the game, but India refused to accept it. Since then, Naqvi has kept the trophy hostage, first in the ACC office and now at an undisclosed location.
Fans engaged in a heated discussion on social media as to what the thought was behind Harmanpreet’s cryptic gesture.
