Australia Women's team are at the top of the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup 2025.
Two Australian women cricketers competing in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup were allegedly pursued and harassed by a man on a motorcycle in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, police said on Saturday, October 25. The incident occurred on Thursday, two days before Australia's top-of-the-table encounter with South Africa.
Danny Simmons, the Australian team's security manager, filed a complaint at the MIG police station on Thursday evening.
According to the authorities, two cricketers were stalked, with one reportedly molested by Aqeel Khan. The incident occurred on Thursday morning on Khajrana Road while the crew was on their way to a cafe from the Radisson Blu Hotel.
Sub-Inspector Nidhi Raghuvanshi stated that the two cricketers had stepped out of their hotel and were headed towards a café when a man on a motorcycle began following them. He allegedly touched one of them inappropriately and rode off, she said.
After learning of the incident, Assistant Commissioner of Police Himani Mishra met with the two players, took notes on their statements, and filed a First Information Report at the MIG police station in accordance with Sections 74 (using criminal force to offend a woman's modesty) and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to the official, Aqeel Khan was arrested after a bystander noticed the suspect's motorcycle number.
"Khan has prior criminal cases registered against him, and an investigation is ongoing," she added.
