इस सीरीज में विकेटकीपर-बल्लेबाज़ रिषभ पंत को टीम में शामिल किया गया था, जिससे कि प्रबंधन विश्व कप से पहले उसकी क्षमता को परख सके| लेकिन वह कुछ खास नहीं कर सके| जिसके बाद लोगो का मानना हैं कि विश्व कप में पंत की जगह अनुभवी खिलाड़ी दिनेश कार्तिक की वापसी होनी चाहिए|
पंत के खराब प्रदर्शन को देखने के बाद फैंस ने बीसीसीआई से अनुरोध किया हैं कि 2019 विश्व कप में पंत को नहीं बल्कि उनकी जगह अनुभवी विकेटकीपर-बल्लेबाज दिनेश की टीम में वापसी होना चाहिए|
फिलहाल 2019 विश्व कप के लिए भारतीय टीम में बतौर विकेटकीपर बल्लेबाज पहली पसंद एमएस धोनी ही हैं| दिनेश ने 2004 में भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम के लिए डेब्यू किया था और तब से कई बार वह टीम के नियमित सदस्य रहे हैं|
सीरीज के चौथे वनडे मुकाबले में पंत ने विकेटकीपिंग के रूप में कई मौके गंवाए थे, जिसके बाद भी लोगों ने चौथे वनडे में हार का एक कारण पंत को ही बताया था| वही अंतिम मुकाबले में भी टीम इंडिया को 35 रनो से करारी हार का सामना करना पड़ा था और इसके साथ ही उन्होंने अपने ही घरेलु मैदान पर सीरीज भी गवा दी| इस मैच में भी पंत के पास मौके का फायदा उठाने के लिए बहुत ही अच्छा मौका था, लेकिन वे इसमें भी नाकाम रहे और सिर्फ 16 रन बनाकर ही मैदान से बाहर हो गए|
