India defeated Pakistan by 19 runs in the final to clinch back-to-back gold medals at the Asian Games.
Upon his arrival at the Chandigarh airport after the conclusion of India-West Indies ODI series, Shubman Gill congratulated his teammates and the Indian men's cricket team for their historic gold medal victory at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
In a video shared by ANI on X, India’s ODI and Test captain expressed his joy by saying, “Congratulations to the team and my teammates.”
Gill also told the reporter seeking his reaction that he has already congratulated his teammates personally.
Led by Shreyas Iyer, the Indian T20I team defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by 19 runs in the gold medal match at the Karogi Sports Park, Nisshin on Saturday (October 3).
After choosing to bat first, India posted a commanding total of 211/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Explosive opening batter Abhishek Sharma set the tone with a destructive 61 off 28 balls while Tilak Varma provided the closing flourish with an unbeaten 51 off 22 balls.
Despite a valiant, solo rescue act from Hasan Nawaz—who smashed 96 off 51 balls—the Indian bowling unit held their nerve to restrict Pakistan to 192/6. India's spin duo of Axar Patel (2-29) and Washington Sundar (2-29) strangled Pakistan's middle order, while Shivam Dube closed out the match by dismissing Nawaz on the final ball.
