India and Pakistan clashed in the final match of the men's cricket event at the ongoing Asian Games 2026 for the gold medal on October 3, 2026, at the Korogi Athletic Park in Nisshin. India captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bat first.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi set the pace with 15 off 9 balls before being dismissed, while Sanju Samson fell for 2 runs. Abhishek Sharma was on fire at the other end, taking on Pakistan's bowlers.

He scored 61 in 28 balls, with 50 coming in 20. Abhishek struck three fours and seven sixes before being dismissed by Arafat Minhas. Shreyas Iyer (21) and Ishan Kishan (20) got started but couldn't capitalize as Pakistani spinners slowed the scoring tempo.

Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube added 62 runs in 32 balls for the 6th wicket. Dube made 27 in 15 balls, while Tilak hammered 51* in 22 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes, taking India to 211/6 in 20 overs. Ahmed Daniyal (2/43) and Arafat Minhas (2/25) were the best bowlers for Pakistan.

Pakistan’s reply was shouldered by Hasan Nawaz, who made 96 off 51 balls with 5 fours and 7 sixes. Maaz Sadaqat (23) and Saim Ayub (29) made contributions as well but couldn’t capitalize on their starts.

However, Indian bowlers were better, with lots of runs in the bank and better temperament. Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, and Shivam Dube picked two wickets apiece as Pakistan managed 192/6.

India won the game by 19 runs and won the gold medal in the men's cricket event in the Asian Games 2026. This is the second consecutive gold medal win for India, which also won the summit clash in the 2022 Asian Games in China.

The cricket fraternity was full of praise for the Indian team, who are now two-time gold medal winners in the Asian Games. They shared their joy on social media, praising the Indian bowlers and team as a whole.
